The six reasons mockups look fake

The library tab opens with them, because naming the problem is how you fix it:

• The design floats instead of sitting in the fabric
• It ignores wrinkles — where the fabric folds, the print must fold with it
• Hard rectangular edge around the artwork reads instantly as a paste job
• Wrong light on the print — it must receive the same lighting as the product
• No fabric texture — real ink lets the weave show through
• Perspective mismatch — the design must sit at the angle of the surface

Print method changes everything

Screen print is flat and opaque with crisp edges. DTG absorbs into the fibres and shows the weave. Vinyl sits slightly above the fabric. Sublimation dyes the fibres with no hand feel. Embroidery is raised thread with visible stitch direction. Puff print is physically raised foam. Most sellers never specify which — and that is exactly why their mockups look generic. It is a dropdown here.

Honest mockups

Accurate blank colour — sage green must be sage green, not a prettier version. Accurate print placement. Nothing trademarked in frame. And order a sample before you build a whole listing around a mockup. Misrepresentation costs more in returns than it earns in clicks, and marketplaces penalise it.
