Midjourney V8 Prompt Builder — Niji, POD & KDP

Most MidJourney guides still teach --cref. It does nothing on V8.

Character Reference and --cw are a V6 and Niji 6 control. On V7 and every version of V8 the flag is simply ignored — your characters drift, and the tutorial you followed never mentions it. Quality was dropped on V8.1 too. Attach an Omni Reference and your job silently renders on V7 instead.

This builder is current. 32 dropdowns, five outputs, and a Compatibility Check that tells you what your selected version actually supports before you spend a generation finding out.

1. Main Imagine Prompt

Every field assembled into one prompt with the parameters ordered correctly and the unused flags left out — paste straight into /imagine.

2. Compatibility Check

Reads your version and your consistency method together. Picks up --cref on V8 and stops you. Warns that an Omni Reference forces a V7 render at double GPU time. Flags that seeds are approximate rather than exact. Stays quiet when your combination is genuinely fine.

3. Consistency Recipe

The workflow that actually holds a character together on V8, adapted to the method you picked — style reference, personalization profile, moodboard, seed lock or legacy character reference. Consistency stopped being a parameter you set and became a habit you keep.

4. Series Batch Plan

Turns one image into a five piece set — hero, pose change, setting change, detail crop, alternate palette — with your anchor held across all five so the collection reads as one body of work.
